7-ELEVEN TAIWAN OPENS FIRST UNMANNED 'X-STORE'
7-Eleven Taiwan unveils new unmanned 'X-Store' using state-of-the-art technology to serve customers without a staff. 7-Eleven Taiwan's operator President Chain Store Corp. (統一超) announced yesterday (Jan. 29) that it has opened its first experimental unmanned store in its corporate headquarters, meanwhile rival Family Mart (全家) will be launching its first wave of technology concept stores making use of artificial intelligence to make coffee and offer other services, reported CNA. President Chain Store Corp. announced that has officially launched an internal test run of what it is calling it's new "X-Store," which would be only the second such unmanned 7-Eleven in the world after one was launched in Seoul, South Korea in May of last year. The first X-Store in Taiwan is located in corporate headquarters as during the initial testing phase it will only be open to internal company employees, and instead of staying open 24 hours or from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., as the name implies, it will at this stage only be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. TAIPEI (Taiwan News) (ICE TAIPEI)
