Close to 100 exporting companies, including two cooperative unions, promoted pulses, oilseeds, spices, honey, coffee, teff, meat and live animals in two international trade shows for food and agriculture with over 150,000 visitors. The trade shows, which took place in Nuremberg, Germany and Dubai, UAE, were facilitated by the Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA) and the Ministry of Trade (MoT). The companies exhibited their commodities in allocated booths and had one-to-one discussions with potential buyers. Biofach, a fair held in Germany, has 2,950 exhibitors and 50,000 visitors. Meanwhile, the Gulfood food and beverages trade show held in Dubai features 5,000 exhibitors and 97,000 visitors. A multi-sectorial technical committee, composed of staff from ATA and MoT, assisted these companies. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), also contributed funds to the endeavor. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ethiopian Consulates in Frankfurt and Dubai, and the Ethiopian Pulses, Oilseeds, Spices Producers & Exporters Association joined hands for the realization of the promotion.
