GDO in Malaysia 2025: Partnership with The Food Purveyor

As part of a promotional program focused on large-scale retail trade (GDO), the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) Office in Kuala Lumpur has signed a renewed partnership agreement with The Food Purveyor, one of Malaysia’s leading distributors of Italian products.

The Food Purveyor operates five supermarket brands—Village Grocer, Ben's Independent Grocer (B.I.G.), BSC Fine Foods, Leisure Grocer, and Pasaraya OTK—as well as the e-commerce platform "Bites Shop." Active since 2017, the group currently manages over 37 outlets across Kuala Lumpur, Penang, the Klang Valley, and Johor Bahru.

Building on the success of the initial collaboration, this renewed partnership will support a dedicated promotional campaign for Italian companies participating in the project, running until December 31, 2025. Starting with the promotion of Italian products already available in stores, the initiative aims to both expand imports and introduce new Italian products into the Malaysian market.

The campaign will include both online and offline components:

  • Online – Promotional activities across the group’s digital platforms and major social media channels, including influencer engagement.

  • Offline – In-store cooking demonstrations, themed events, tastings, and educational materials highlighting Italian cuisine and products.

For the 2025 edition, in addition to the 50 Italian companies already selected by The Food Purveyor, the initiative is expected to include new participating companies as well.
