From October 20 to November 20, 2025, Slovenia hosted the fifth edition of the “Month of Italian Fashion” a promotional campaign organized by the ICE Office in Ljubljana as part of the GDO Fashion Project in Slovenia, in collaboration with the Magistrat International group. The initiative, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with the support of the Italian Embassy in Ljubljana, reaffirmed the strong ties between Italy and Slovenia in the fashion sector.
The campaign was inaugurated on October 21 with a press conference at the Emporium store in the BTC shopping center in Ljubljana, attended by journalists, influencers, and industry professionals.
Magistrat International confirmed its leadership in fashion retail in Slovenia, holding a key position in the mid-to-high-end segment. The group owns Galerija Emporium, a prestigious multibrand flagship store housed in a 1903 art nouveau building in the heart of the capital, as well as the modern multistore Emporium within BTC, one of Ljubljana’s busiest shopping centers, and the e-commerce portal emporium.si.
During the press conference, the Ambassador of Italy to Slovenia, Giuseppe Cavagna, highlighted the strategic role of the Italian fashion system, presenting data on the performance of the broader fashion sector in 2024 - including textiles, leather goods, jewelry, and eyewear. In terms of exports, Italy confirmed its position as the world’s second-largest exporter, right after China, with a total value of €83.3 billion. In addition to the current agreement with large-scale distribution, the Ambassador drew attention also to the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, stressing how both initiatives represent valuable opportunities to promote national synergies and strengthen Italy’s image abroad.
The Director of ICE (ITA) Ljubljana, Giacomo Ricciotti, presented the results achieved in Slovenia thanks to previous promotional campaigns, underlining ICE’s ongoing commitment to enhancing Italian fashion through collaboration with major GDO distributors. In 2024, Slovenia imported fashion and textile products from Italy worth a total of €282 million, confirming its leadership in footwear and leather goods supplies (€80 million), while maintaining second place as a clothing supplier, preceded only by Germany, with a value of €110 million.
Jožica Brcar, Director of Magistrat International, thanked the Embassy and ICE for their support, emphasizing how the collaboration facilitated the entry of numerous Italian brands into the Slovenian market, establishing the group as the main promoter of Italian fashion in the area between Milan and Vienna. The fifth anniversary of the Month of Italian Fashion coincided with the fifteenth anniversary of Galerija Emporium, which hosted this year’s celebratory fashion show. It was in this prestigious setting that, in 2010, Italian actress Monica Bellucci inaugurated the store’s opening, immediately giving it a strong connection with Italy and international appeal.
The campaign included promotional activities in stores and online, supported by a multichannel strategy: advertising in national media, radio spots, and digital campaigns. The 48 Italian companies involved presented their Fall-Winter 2025 collections, embodying quality, elegance, and creativity - values increasingly appreciated by Slovenian consumers.
The calendar of events concluded with the Italian Fashion Show on November 12, now a recognized brand in Slovenia: a spectacular runway featuring Italian clothing and accessories, accompanied by lights and music, in front of a select audience and well-known entertainment figures.
Thus, the “Month of Italian Fashion” is confirmed as a key event for Made in Italy, strengthening the presence of Italian brands in Slovenia. Thanks also to the GDO Fashion Project, over 30% of Magistrat International’s suppliers now come from Italy, a sign of significant growth and increasingly solid collaboration.
