Italian Converter is a company that produces innovative fabrics for footwear, leather goods, clothing and upholstery.
Founded in 1994 as Converter, the company has since transformed into a genuine industrial facility.
At its core there are entire production departments which, thanks to first-rate Know-How and the best cutting-edge technologies, give life to increasingly innovative products.
Thanks to our research and many years of experience, we create and offer hybrid smart-tech innovations born from an advanced finishing chemistry, allowing us to offer unique and innovative products to our clients. Our mission is to create fabrics that you want, that amaze your clients and captivate the general public.
For this reason we support the major national and international fashion houses, constantly creating unique and high-grade pieces.
Thanks to constant laboratory research on new materials and processes we have created and perfected the BISTRETCH technique, which allows us to create revolutionary fabrics, double-sided elastics that especially resilient and difficult to imitate. Italian Converter was born from Costantino Karazissis' passion for fabrics, a young staff member in the footwear sector who was looking to advance his professional life, feeling a need for change in the air.
Costantino represented large and small companies, travelling the world in search of new customers and opportunities.
He understood his customers' need to innovate. Loaded with new projects, he returned to the companies he represented eager to see them realized.
However, he was consistently faced with closed doors and disheartened entrepreneurs.
Tired of this situation, Costantino made a decision that would change his life: he decided to create his own company from scratch. He would aim at giving voice to change and seeing what most believed unachievable achieved. It was under this condition that, in 1994, Italian Converter was born.

Founded in 1994 by Costantino Karazissis, current CEO of the company, Italian Converter ® is now an international corporation in the production of fashion and hi-tech fabrics for the best brands of footwear, leather goods, clothing and furniture in the world. The successful adventure undertaken by Karazissis was inspired by a great passion for the world of fabrics and the result of a deep knowledge of the sector, gained through years of experience in the field.New materials, new processes and processing technologies with a high-quality standard and a pioneering attention to eco-sustainability have all contributed over the years to the creation of collections that have anticipated and created new trends in fashion and design. Today the company, which is based in Vigevano (Italian province of Pavia) and occupies an area of about 11,000 square meters, has over 120 employees, including the founder’s children, who are committed to giving continuity and a future to this project.

In 2017, the first collection of eco-sustainable fabrics was
created, “E.C.O. KOSMOS,” dedicated to the world of fashion
and authenticated according to the certifications: GRS, RCS®,
GOTS, OCS, STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, BCI, FSC®.
From the production cycle’s start, we dedicate the utmost
attention and care to creating safe products with traceable raw
materials and transformation processes, finishing, laminating,
coating, and embossing with a low environmental impact. A
unique contemporary mixture capable of bringing increasingly
advanced products to life, season after season.
Design, innovation, and creativity were always our values, and
the future requires a new way of interpreting them with the aim

ECO CHERCU FUTURE
Chercu Future, is a material born entirely from nature and in respect of it. Innovative and responsible, it is made with real cork from industrial waste. Unlike in the past, thanks to Italian Converter® technology, even a material so far from our industry becomes the perfect fabric for footwear, leather goods, apparel and design.
In addition to the technical characteristics, unique in their kind, such as water repellency, breathability, fireproofing and high resistance to abrasion, there are also qualitative elements such as softness and originality.

E.C.O. LEATHER
E.C.O. LEATHER is our biobased coated fabric made by recovering
pre-consumer waste, then recompacting it to give it new life.
It is made even more sustainable by the finish that covers it:
a revolutionary bio-based polymer from renewable sources.
This product, designed and manufactured in-house by specialised
R&D department of Italian Converter®, has been tested for
its composition. The Beta Analytic institute has verif ied
that 64% of its composition is made up of organic mat ter
of vegetable origin: it is polyurethane derived from natural
sources. This confirms Italian Conver ter® commitment to
choose innovative, sustainable raw materials that fully respect
the environment. The regeneration process transforms what
was once a production waste into a new source of opportunity
to meet current market demands. E.C.O. LEATHER combines
technological innovation, beauty and comfort.
