Studio Prof. Marchetti s.r.l. designs, manufactures and distributes worldwide the geotechnical equipment named Marchetti Flat Dilatometer (DMT), Marchetti Seismic Dilatometer (SDMT) and Marchetti Medusa DMT.
DMT determines in a quick, precise, simple and economical way many crucial parameters used in geotechnical design. The results are highly repeatable and independent from the operator.
The DMT is especially known for providing highly accurate estimates of operative moduli and settlements.
SDMT is the combination of the standard Flat Dilatometer (DMT) with a seismic module. The SDMT provides, besides the usual DMT data, the shear wave velocity Vs and the small strain shear modulus Go.
The Medusa DMT is a self-contained, fully automated version of the flat dilatometer, able to autonomously perform dilatometer tests without the pneumatic cable.
The Medusa DMT is advanced into the ground using the same field machines, commonly penetrometers or drill rigs, used for the traditional pneumatic DMT. The device may operate without any cable. An optional electric cable may be used to obtain real-time test
data and for monitoring automation parameters during the execution of the measurements.

DMT standard set
The Standard DMT set contains all the necessary components for dilatometer testing down to over 50 m of soil depth or deeper with additional cables. It includes two blades, the latest version of the dual gage Control Unit for automatic acquisition of DMT readings, pneumatic-electric cables, Membranes, Calibration Equipment, Auxiliary Components, Adaptors and Software.
SDMT Seismic DMT set
The SDMT Seismic DMT Set contains all the necessary components for dilatometer and seismic dilatometer testing (S-wave) down to over 50 m of soil depth or deeper with additional cables. The equipment includes: two blades, one true interval seismic probe connected monolithically to a dummy cone tip, the latest edition of the Control Unit for automatic acquisition of DMT readings and for seismic data acquisition, pneumatic-electric cables, Membranes, Calibration Equipment, Seismic shear beam for S-wave generation, Auxiliary Components, Adaptors and Software.
Medusa DMT
The Medusa DMT is a probe able to autonomously perform dilatometer tests, which generates and measures the pressure directly at depth. The obtained DMT readings are extremely accurate and repeatable, because the fluid is liquid (incompressible) and the pressure regulation is electronically controlled. New test procedures are possible, such as high resolution dissipation tests and horizontal pressure measurements during continuous penetration.
