Owned by Mezzecrete, Agricola Neci is located in the heart of the Tuscan Crete Senesi, South East of Siena. The property covers 642 acres of cultivations, forests and olive groves and spontaneous truffle beds along the Ombrone river. Historically committed to farming cereals, sunflowers and legumes, the company entered the premium olive oil business in 2004 by planting 19 acres of olive trees. Trees were selected in line with the standards required by the 'Terre di Siena' P.D.O Consortium, which aims to safeguard extra virgin olive oil made in the area of Siena from counterfeit Tuscan oil. Today Olio Nece is Mezzecrete's high end product as well as its pride after being constantly included in the most important olive oil guidebooks.

Olio Nece is an organic extra virgin olive oil 'Terre di Siena' P.D.O. which is made from the cold pressing of olives rigorously from our farm. The P.D.O. certification secures that cultivars have been selected to represent the finest Tuscanness (42% Leccino, 27% Frantoio, 20% Moraiolo, 11% Pendolino).

Olio Nece is obtained from the pressing of olives harvested while still green in early October to ensure a high presence of chlorophylls and polyphenols that are perceived by the organoleptic examination in a positive way with the merits of a greater tone fruity, bitter and spicy, at the expense of the yield of oil which has never been higher than 15%. In order keep the acidity very low, olives are pressed within 12 hours from being picked up.

Olio Nece is an intense limpid golden yellow extra virgin olive oil with delicate green hues. Its aroma is ample and rotund, with aromatic hints of mint and rosemary, together with notes of artichoke and chicory. Its taste is fine and complex, with a flavour of black pepper and an almond finish. Bitterness and pungency are present and harmonic. It pairs very well with salmon salads, stewed shrimps, grilled cuttlefish, pan-seared poultry as well as mozzarella cheese.
