SERENGEO Srl, a spin-off company of the University of Bologna with headquarter at the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering (DICAM), is an innovative startup which provides consulting and design services, advanced scientific studies, physics-mechanical determinations by in situ and laboratory tests in the Geoengineering field. SERENGEO activities are based on the most advanced technical-scientific know-how, developed at the University, collaborating with public and private, Italian and foreign research institutes in the development and application of innovative solutions in the fields of mining and environmental engineering, tunnelling and safety, rock mechanics and geothermal energy.
Our mission is to transfer our experience, know-how and skills to the market in order to improve the knowledge of the underground space and to foster the sustainable interaction between man and nature.

Mining & Quarrying Services Division
SERENGEO brings to market innovative services, coming directly from the results of academic researches and the skills acquired in the area of Mining Environmental Engineering, to support and benefit the manufacturing world. Our objective is to spread new approaches, tools and methodologies for the mines and quarries design and reclamation, as well as for the environmental impact assessment. Our attention is focused on the technical, economic, social and environmental sustainability of the operations. SERENGEO addresses the needs of public administrations, mining industry and all those using raw mineral materials in industry processes, providing support in resource management, optimizing the productive processes and solving complex issues.

Geothermal Energy Services Division
SERENGEO wants to make the geothermal energy – nowadays a marginal source of clean energy – a primary source of electricity and heat. The main goal of SERENGEO is spreading efficient systems for the reduction of polluting emissions and of sustainable design from a technical, economic and environmental point of view. Our reference market is that of geothermo-electric energy production, at international level. SERENGEO provides: support to Governmental Agencies evaluating geothermal resource energetic potential, using geostatistical approaches and reservoir engineering know-how; geothermal reservoir modelling for investors and energy industry; design of geothermal systems for heating & cooling and for direct use of heat for the industry and the building companies. Our approach is based on the adoption and development of innovative scientific software, on the expert use of numerical modeling and on the application of mining geostatistics.

Rock & Minerals characterization Services Division
SERENGEO brings to market innovative services deriving from the results of the researches developed at the University and from the knowledge acquired in the field of Mining Engineering, in order to support and improve the productive world. Our objective is to spread design and characterization criteria for rock materials and rock masses, which have to be technically, economically and environmentally sustainable. SERENGEO addresses the needs of the construction companies, the public administrations and the industry. SERENGEO provides its services in collaboration with the Laboratory of Geoengineering and Natural Resources (LAGIRN) of DICAM, which disposes of facilities for the execution of geomechanical tests according to National and International Standards (UNI, EN, ASTM, ISRM) and the Suggested Methods of International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM), and ad-hoc equipment developed at DICAM for peculiar applications.

SERENGEO participates to engineering works providing innovative solutions coming from the results of academic researches and the skills acquired in the areas of Mining, Tunnelling and Excavation Engineering, with a specific focus on environmental aspects and workers safety. The solutions provided to our customers are mainly based upon innovative approaches, tools and technologies for underground space design and construction. Our activities are focused on workers safety and on technical, financial, environmental and social sustainability of construction works. SERENGEO addresses the needs of design firms, construction companies and Public Administrations, providing problem-solving support in design and construction works.
