Caffè Donatello

The story of Caffè Donatello began in 1992 in the heart of Tuscany, between Florence and Siena. Since then, we have always based our activity on tradition, continuity, and expertise in the roasting of coffee beans. Our goal is to become a benchmark of roasted coffee and to convey our commitment to artisanal methods.

The lots of green coffee arrive at our roasting plant in Tuscany from selected producers from Mexico, Guatemala, India, Brazil, Ethiopia, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Java and Hawaii. To ensure a higher quality standard, we buy only hand-harvested, wet-processed coffee.

Although we rely on state-of-the-art machinery, the human capital is still key. This enriches the productive process in every single part of it, from the evaluation of green coffee to the roasting. No advanced equipment can replace the palate of the owner who personally tastes each lot or the ear of the roaster, who can recognise the perfect roasting degree from the creaking of the beans.

Our roasting process is slow, and its duration may vary according to some factors such as climate conditions and humidity. Our drum roaster has a capacity of 60 kg and ensures a homogeneous roasting of all beans. Roasted coffee is then air-cooled, so that it can release its full aroma.

To preserve our coffee in a better way, we use bags with a special valve patented in Switzerland. The valve allows the release of carbon dioxide and blocks oxygen from entering, preventing oxidation. This way, the maturation process of our coffee does not stop and its organoleptic characteristics are kept intact.

Our passion towards high-quality coffee has been recognized through the IFS certification. In recent years we have also focused more and more on sustainability. In fact, our catalogue includes two organic blends and a brand new line of compostable coffee pods.

Caffè Donatello pays great attention to the satisfaction of its customers. We aim at increasing their loyalty through long-established products, yet with an eye to future and innovation. Thanks to our know-how we are able to adapt to any kinds of needs. We also offer private label solutions on request.

Our organic coffee Terra Amica is a blend of 80% Arabica and 20% Robusta from Mexico and Honduras, farmed with the utmost respect for the environment.
Its chocolate-like notes and lack of acidity make it an ideal choice for the most refined palates.
Thanks to its Central American origin, this blend has a smooth flavour with a lingering aftertaste.
These features are guaranteed by the aroma protection valve in the bags, which blocks oxygen from entering but opens as soon as the natural gas produced by coffee generates internal pressure.

The pleasant

Oro is our signature blend, a unique combination of coffee varieties from all over the world. The pleasantness of this blend makes it ideal to finish a good meal, start off your day or enjoy a relaxing pause.

The Arabica beans from Ethiopia Central and South America give it a mellow taste with pungent and chocolate-like notes, while the Robusta from India and Cameroon produces a fruity and spicy aroma with a slight hint of wood. All in all, this is a reminder that coffee is, in fact, a plant with delicious fruits.

The strong

Among all our blends, Argento is the one with the most distinctive Southern Italian espresso taste. Its intensity and lingering crema make it ideal for your cappuccino, but you can also enjoy it as a traditional espresso.
The Brazilian Arabica compensates the acidity and robustness of the Robusta from India and Cameroon, creating a perfectly balanced coffee that is best tasted after a meal or during breakfast.
