The Bakery Pan-Dem CONTACTS Demurtas Alfredo and sons, is the old bakery in Villagrande, that in 2021 crossed the enviable age of 68 years of thriving business .
In fact, thanks to its founder, Mr. Alfredo Demurtas, that sadly passed away in October of 2014, it operates in the bakery market and typical pastry since 1953.
He started with the production of typical, local breads "like s'angule " ( Semolina bread made in different sizes and prepared for the ceremonies;)
"Sa Turredda" ( made with potatoes and flour.)
The production of "Su Pistoccu", began a few years later, on the initiative of his wife, Lady Elvira in 1976, when it was inaugurated a new local.
At that time the sale of this product was the latest new. Mr Alfredo Demurtas, was the pioneer of its sale, the first to put "Su Pistoccu" on the market;
From 1976 since today the business is notably improved: it has evolved according to the market needs and currently operates into a modern local of 800 square meters, with advanced machines that comply with the new current legislation about safety and food hygiene.
Currently with the support of their sons, Filippo and Alessia with Giancarlo , the production has expanded with the introduction of sweets, but especially "Biscotti Sardi", "Gallette" and "Piccoli di Sardegna".
A new main product is definitely the "Panettone with Beer", for Christmas time, and the "Colomba" in the Easter period. In fact, they are particularly appreciated for their quality and unique sensory characteristics.

The experience of 68 years gives a guarantee of constancy and quality of our productions, certified by ISO 9001: 2008. We personally follow the entire production processes from the selection of raw materials, their storage, to the production and packaging.

On the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the activities Bakery Demurtas, the opportunity to introduce two new products in our tables: it is the "Carasau Ogliastrino", which differs from the usual carasau because it is a bit 'more thicker, but is thinner from our pistoccu; and ' "Indorau" a carasau guttiau, that is fried and flavoured with oil and salt.

Carasau d’Ogliastra:
The "Carasau of Ogliastra", differs from the usual carasau bread ,because it is a bit more thicker, but is thinner than our pistoccu. Fragrant and crisp thanks to our experience in bread-making, but also to our knowledge in processing.

PISTOCCU:
Questo pane allo stesso modo in cui si adeguava ad essere portato come provvista dai pastori che partivano per lunghi periodo, così si adegua alle attuali esigenze dei consumatori alla ricerca di prodotti che si conservano a lungo e mantengono la fragranza e le caratteristiche organolettiche per lunghi periodi, pur non contenendo nessun tipo di conservante o additivo.
Confezionato con semola di grano duro e patate.

Il modo più comune per consumarlo è quello di bagnarlo in superficie, attendere qualche minuto e mangiarlo come pane quotidiano e quindi accompagnarlo con cibi dolci e salati.
Può anche essere gustato croccante o condito con olio e sale.

PISTOCCU:
This bread was suitable for the shepherds leaving for a long period as food supply, and it adapts also to nowadays needs of consumers, looking for products that are durable and retain the fragrance and the organoleptic characteristics for long periods , while not containing any type of preservative or additive. Prepared with hard wheat flour and potatoes. The most common way to consume it is to moisten the surface, wait a few minutes and eat it like daily bread and then accompany it with sweet and savoury food. It can also be enjoyed crispy and seasoned with oil and salt.
