Azienda Agricola Fontechiara

Cantina Fontechiara was born under the sign of an innate love for the land and with the intent of renewing the wine-making tradition of earlier generations.
The vineyards cover the extreme eastern slopes of the Novara Hills, an area that is particulary suited for growing the local grape varieties of Nebbiolo and Vespolina, which are cultivated with methods designed to give priority to achieving fruit of the highest quality.
Organic fertilizations, low yields per hectare and drastic selection in the vineyards lead to the perfectly matured grapes: a traditional approach combined with advanced technology.
We avoid using chemicals, which end up as residue in the wine, convinced that this is best for both the health of our planet and of those who drink our wines, which are all "natural", each produces from a single grape variety.
Our wines are certified Vegan Ok.

Nebbiolo DOC is a red grape which produces all great Piedmont wines and in Novara hills finds his own ideal micro-clima. As the wine age in our oak cask with a complete natural method, it takes on a characteristic brick-orange hue at the rim of the glass and mature to reveal other aromas and flavours such as violets, tar, wild herbs, cherries, raspberries, truffles, tobacco and prunes. Decided intense flavour, intense spicy, with hints of white pepper, cinnamon and liquorice, varietal Nebbiolo balanced by notes of wood. Nebbiolo wines can require years of aging in the bottle to balance the tannins with other characteristics. Recommended with roasts, red meats, game, strong cheeses.

Intense ruby red with vinous, fruity nose, dry and balanced with aromatic persistence, Vespolina is a pleasing, bright red with intense aromas. wine Fresh and soft in the mouth, it is elegant and well-structured . It is an ancient variety that has traditionally been used with Nebbiolo to add color, softness and roundness to the wines. It pairs well with traditional dishes from Novara and both red and white meat.

We produce this Rosé using the same methods that our ancestors did, vinifying the nebbiolo grapes like a white wine, which means fermentation without the skins. This wine is made exclusively with Nebbiolo grapes grown in our vineyards with the biodynamic method in harmony with nature and tradition. The result is rosé, which is then very lightly filtered before bottling. The colour is light rose with copper shade. The fragrance is fresh, strong, fruity with typical Nebbiolo aroma. The taste is dry and round. Recommended with starters, fish and summer meals.

Where innovation and tradition meet, there you can find a moving, passion scented and astounding wine. Tradition, wisdom and ancientness merge in a rare and unique blend: Nebbiolo - force and resolution - and Vespolina - the bizarre and perky note which creates the perfect union. First blend of the Fontechiara production, it comes with an alternative look, a refined design and a meticulous attention to details. The colour is ruby red tending to garnet. Full flavour with light and long tannic hints; very balanced and persistent on the palate. Delicate but structured with fruity notes. Recommended with roasts, red meats, game and long-life cheeses.
