Lornano is a boutique winery owned by the same family since 1904. We’re located in the picturesque southwest hills of Castellina in Chianti, at the hearth of the Chianti Classico DOCG wine region, on the border between Castellina and Monteriggioni. The winery was initially constructed in the 15th Century, and the current structure dates back to the latter half of the 18th Century. Fattoria di Lornano has been a member of the “Consorzio del Marchio Storico Chianti Classico Gallo Nero” since its foundation in 1924, underscoring our commitment to tradition and quality.
We produce a Rosè (100% Sangiovese), Igt Rosso Toscana entry level, the range of Chianti Classico (Annata, Riserva from single vineyard, Gran Selezione), a Supertuscan and the Vinsanto del Chianti Classico.

Lornano Chianti Classico docg

Grapes: Sangiovese 100%
Winemaking: From a selection of Sangiovese bunches, the carefully de-stemmed grapes are vinified in modern stainless steel tanks. The maceration lasts around 15-18 days at a temperature of about 26-28°centigrade. When the alcoholic fermentation is completed, the wine begins his malolactic fermentation after which there is the transfer in both French oak barriques and big barrels where it remains for 12 months. It plays a further aging in the bottle of six months.
Tasting notes: Intense and concentrated ruby red color. Fine and elegant bouquet, characterized by ripe red fruit and floral notes accompanied by hints of spices. The sip brings out all its freshness, balanced by very well integrated tannins. A stylish Sangiovese with a long and persistent finish.
Chianti Classico Riserva docg Le Bandite

Grapes: Sangiovese 100% from single vineyard
Wine making: From a selection of the best Sangiovese grapes from a single vineyard of 5ha, the carefully de-stemmed grapes are vinified in modern stainless steel tanks. The maceration lasts around 25 days at a temperature of about 26° centigrade. When the alcoholic fermentation is completed, the wine begins his malolactic fermentation. After that, 50% of the wine matures in French oak barriques and the rest in big barrels where it stays for 20 months. It stays in the bottle for 6 further months.
Tasting notes: Bright and deep ruby red color. The nose is attractive and intense with typical ripe wild berryes such as blackberry and raspberry, with orange zest and dried flowers followed by spicy hints in which the note of licorice predominates, accompained by notes of tobacco. It is a full-bodied, austere wine, with succulent tannins and a vibrant acidity with a long and expressive finish characterized by blood orange notes in the after taste that temps to drink it.
Chianti Classico Gran Selezione docg

Grapes: Sangiovese 100%
Wine making: From a selection of Sangiovese bunches, the carefully de-stemmed grapes are vinified in modern stainless steel tanks. The maceration lasts around 25-30 days at a temperature of about 26°centigrade. When the alcoholic fermantation is completed, the wine begins its malolactic fermentation. It is transferred to new French oak barrels where it remains for about 30 months. On completion of the aging process the blend is done with a further selection of the very best barriques. Then it is aged for 6 further months in the bottle.
Tasting notes: Light ruby red color. Complex bouquet that superbly includes a savory array of mushrooms, bay leaves, spicy, tobacco, citrus zest, toasted hazelnuts and balsamic notes, accompained by hints of ripe wild berries. On the palate it is soft and fresh, the tannin is well present, harmonious and of good power. Nice notes of ripe and dried fruit and nuts on the finish. The full and intense flavor gives a very pleasant persistence.

Igt Rosato Toscana Etél

Grapes: Sangiovese 100%
Vinification: From a selection of the best grapes picked in two different harvests. An early harvest at mid September and the second harvest done around mid October. The carefully de-stemmed grapes are vinified in modern stainless steel tanks, with a maceration of 4-6h on the skins at a temperature of about 5° Celsius. The must is then moved into stainless steel tanks in order to start the fermentation at a controlled temperature of 18°.
Tasting notes: Light pink color. The personality of this wine is immediately revealed. The nose is floreal, with hints of rose petals that make it very elegant. Persistent in the mouth, with a persuasive grapefruit note in the after-taste. Freshness that makes the sip succulent and a sapidity that donates to the wine a medium body.
