Fattoria Italiana Martelli

Fattoria Italiana Martelli is born from the passion and experience of Roberto – who has Lucanian origins and raised in a family that has always owned vast plots of citrus groves, olive groves and land cultivated for grain- and Ludovica; She is Doctor in food science and technology and represents the fourth generation of a family of farmers in Abruzzo.

Its mission is to produce and bring to the tables of gourmands, in Italy and abroad, the food and wine specialties of Abruzzo area, which combine the Italian tradition of good food with quality, innovation and sustainability.

Fattoria Italiana Martelli, in its small way, wants to contribute to a "more sustainable world" and has chosen not to use metal tins for extra virgin olive oil but cardboard, easily recyclable. The same oil filtration takes place through cotton, a 100% natural material and easy to dispose of; even the choice of non-plasticized labels represents a way to reduce the presence of plastic. We enhance waste.

From grape seeds we extract an oil with a high nutritional value used in industrial, cosmetic and food industries. This cold pressed oil is particularly rich in antioxidants and has demonstrated in many stud ies to be a possible remedy to alleviate various disorders: of the visual, cardiovascular and lymphatic systems but also to provide relief from premenstrual syndrome and to prevent cancer. At Fattoria Italiana Martelli we use grape seeds during the process of wine production because they are responsible, along with grape skins, for the release of polyphenols, which have organoleptic and sensorial qualities

The main productions of Fattoria italiana Martelli

Wine and Mosto cotto: the territory benefits from thermal excursions between day and night which, combined with good ventilation, guarantee the vine an ideal microclimate for vegetating and producing grapes of extraordinary quality. Among the high quality Abruzzo wines which are known all over the world, Fattoria Italiana Martelli presents the red wines Montepulciano DOC, Montepulciano DOC RISERVA, with hints of ripe cherry with spicy notes; and the white wines Pecorino IGP Terre di Chieti with the scent of white flowers and white peaches and some hints of citrus and tropical fruits, anticipated by the Pecorino Spumante brut, ideal as an aperitif, but also accompanied by seafood dishes such as oysters. Mosto cotto, also called grape honey, is made from Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grapes, with a long boiling of the grape must, which lasted for about 16 hours, over low heat and in copper pots.

Oil: The particular pedoclimatic environment - with the coastal hills that dominate the trabocchi coast, close to the mountains - and the cultivation techniques - from the olive harvest that always takes place directly from the plant, to the immediate milling - help to express the productions at its best, in terms of acidic composition, polyphenolic content and flavor. In addition to extra virgin olive oils, Fattoria Italiana Martelli produces condiments based on extra virgin olive oil with fresh lemons and fresh oranges obtained from its own citrus groves in Basilicata; Also chilli, basil, rosemary and truffle oils are produced. The olive production chain also consists of olives, olive paté, artichokes and peppers in extra virgin olive oil, as per true Abruzzo tradition.

Honey: Fattoria Italiana Martelli places on the Abruzzo territory hives for MILLEFIORI honey. The company every year transports apiaries to Basilicata, in the land owned by the family, a region renowned for the production of citrus fruits in order to produce CITRUS, SULLA and GIRASOLE honey. It is possible to produce such an excellent honey thanks to the biodiversity which is present in Abruzzo. Infact the 30% of the Abruzzo region has a complex system of Parks and Natural Reserves and has a huge biodiversity of flora.
