SNAP4 S.R.L. is an innovative start-up, spin-off of the University of Florence, which offers software solutions, technological infrastructures and services for the acquisition and management of data of any type and format, for big data analytic and management activities in order to to enable innovative decision support solutions (data analytics, decision support, visual analytics) for cities, industries, citizens, through the use of artificial intelligence and internet of things technologies.
The solutions offered by SNAP4 come from the results of the Snap4City project in which the University with the DISIT Lab (https://www.disit.org) together with SNAP4 developed this platform which is completely open source.
SNPA4 proposes an interoperable, flexible and modular solution, able to aggregate data coming from a variety of different sources and domains (open data, GIS geographical data, proprietary data, users' personal data, data from IOT / IOE sensors, social media, etc.) and with any protocol. The goal is to use these data to produce analysis algorithms, dashboards or decision support applications for the city and decision makers, citizens and industries, in a simple and intuitive way.

SNAP4 proposes its own platform to aggregate any type of data, in order to produce specific forecasts that take into account different parameters and allow to: better optimize the production lines; create anomaly detection models; do predictive maintenance; improve traffic flows and inform citizens by bringing many benefits.
Instead of using the classic heuristic methods for the management of these problems, the solution proposed by SNAP4 allows, with few actions, to visualize any data coming from sensors in an integrated environment, with the aim of providing more effective decision support, and to automatically trigger certain actions on the plants or in the city.
A cooperative environment where users, developers and stakeholders can operate creating customized applications by acquiring, processing and displaying the data of their interest in a simple and fast way, in total respect of the GDPR.
SNAP4 offers solutions that use data to build:
• Statistical models, predictive models, Machine Learning models, mathematical models
• Business Intelligence solutions
• Dashboard, Control Room, Real Time monitoring Tools, Industry 4.0, etc.
The aim is to produce value starting from the data enabling services such as:
• Decisions and strategies support;
• Analysis of user behavior to stimulate virtuous behavior;
• Living Lab to stimulate the development of solutions related to economic growth, based on data sharing and reuse, web and mobile applications, data / big data analytics.

Snap4City

Cities are rapidly transforming their services to address current societal, environmental and economic challenges. Vertical smart solutions are being progressively replaced by solutions capable of exploiting a huge range of data channels, getting smarter, and cross exploiting data. Cities/areas require highly tailored solutions, exploiting the legacy and pushing to the future and innovation. A flexible, dynamic and highly interoperable platform is needed to increase sustainability, profit and full control of operational objectives, fully integrated with the territory and all the stakeholders. Cities are abandoning an approach based on single data sources and becoming aware of actual data channels where information and actions flow in multiple directions and Digital Twins and creating living labs with all stakeholders. Multi-directional flows are key services in implementing the city/area operating system enabling daily tuning to deal with current challenges, mobility as a service, smart waste, smart lighting, smart parking.
Snap4City is a 100% open-source platform used in many cities and areas. It is an official FIWARE Platform and Solution (https://www.snap4city.org/467 , https://www.fiware.org/ ) developed under the coordination of DISIT Lab of the University of Florence, Italy. Snap4City is GDPR compliant, passed PENTest, and it is an EOSC platform, an official Node-RED Library, official E015 API, etc. The platform is provided as “as a Service” basis, or installed in your location (from your self, as well as using a number of companies), no licence fee is needed. The platform has at present a wide range of activities in the smart city and IoT/IoE (Internet of Things/Internet of Everything) integrated domains: defining city strategies, implementing control room, realizing ethics and explainable artificial intelligent solutions and computing key performance indicators which are used daily in both city and industry management.
Snap4City has incorporated Km4City (https://www.km4city.org ) ontological and semantic model to guarantee the data interoperability with any kind of IoT Devices, device models, data entities, physical structures ranging from the city, industry, and home. And thus, also with FIWARE Smart Data Models, providing a number of real-time open-source solutions to support decision makers in cities and large industries to ground their daily operational actions on solid explainable artificial intelligent predictions, deductions and assessments. It provides a complete understanding of the context and its trends, receiving early warning, anomaly detections, and performing simulation and what-if analysis. This information is used to suggest strategic interventions to improve city services and general quality of life, in multiple domains (e.g., Smart Cities and Smart Industry).

IoT Hubs, Applications and Solutions are presently addressing societal, environmental and economic challenges. Smart solutions are progressively replacing traditional solutions being capable of exploiting a huge range of data channels, getting smarter, and cross exploiting data. A flexible, dynamic and highly interoperable platform is needed to increase sustainability, profit and full control of operational objectives, fully integrated with legacy solutions. IoT applications are abandoning the approaches based on single data sources and becoming aware of actual data channels where information and actions flow in multiple directions and Digital Twins and creating living labs with all stakeholders.
The use of the IoT/IoE (Internet of Things/Internet of Everything) is currently pervasive in all fields: smart city, industry 4.0, smart home, smart farm, smart city, smart waste, smart lighting, smart parking, etc.
The approach has determined a change of paradigm, pushing towards the Digital Twins, but also in attributing to objects/things a large set of values and features in the digital world that would enhance their life and capabilities to be: manipulated, composed, viewed, transformed, copied, controlled, lend, etc., and to use them as instruments in other contexts. For example, the tags for tracking, the mobiles devices as sensors, the post on social media as sensor values, the dashboards and Apps as receivers of action as actuators, etc.
IoT has transformed how solutions are produced. To this end, powerful and Open platforms for creating smart IoT Hubs, Applications and Services are needed and have to be capable to:
• exploit and connect any kind of IoT Devices and Entities, with any protocol,
• exploit a large range of data types, value types, units, and concepts,
• exploit end-to-end secure solutions, devices, interfaces, storages and communications,
• use visual tools for fast prototyping and programming such as Node-RED,
• integrate data analytics, artificial intelligence, and ethics in multiple layers,
• use powerful tools for creating interactive user interfaces: dashboards, synoptics, etc.
• be installed addressing IoT Edge, distributed environments, private and public cloud at reasonable and no costs,
• respect privacy and provide GDPR compliance.
