Finapp

Finapp is the innovative startup, spinoff of the University of Padua-Italy, which has developed and industrialized the CRNS (cosmic ray neutrons sensing) probes at an affordable price, which allows you to determine:
- the Soil Moisture (Soil Moisture),
- the Biomass (BWE)
- the Snow Water Equivalent (SWE)
- underground water leakage

The method uses cosmic rays which continuously reach the earth's surface: a "fog" of suspended neutrons is formed from their interaction with the water molecules present in the soil, in the plants, in the snow.
Finapp probes allow to count these neutrons with an innovative disruptive technology, which avoid limitation of the current punctual methods such as TDR, FDR, capacitive or resistive as well as satellite evaluations or through drones and thermal imaging cameras.

The Finapp method allows the measurement of the mass of water dissolved in the soil offering exclusive advantages:
It also measures the molecules present in depth (50cm), therefore also at the roots of plants,
It offers data in real time and in continuous, evaluating a large area 5ha/10ha with a single sensor,
It avoids any invasive installation in the subsoil and is insensitive to the different types of substrates and soil structures,
Easy and immediate installation and commissioning, on a pole of about 2 m high,
Finapp sensor operates at very low consumption (0.4Wh) and with his mini solar panel it operates autonomously and stand alone, or you can power supply as preferred
The measured data are transmitted to the cloud, have a datalogger function, data are always available,
Data transmission via API and/or access to Finapp cloud, in addition it has SDI12 and RS232 outputs, for connections to existing stations (at an extra cost)
It measure Gravimetric Water content (Kg/Kg) or Volumetric water Content ( m3/m3) by knowing the soil density,
It does not require maintenance,

Some of the typical applications:
in precision agriculture it informs about Irrigation advice, planning and dosage,
- the evaluation of the Water Resource for hydroelectric basins through the SWE,
- provides early warning information for Avalanches and Landslides,
- biomass evaluation in Agriculture, Carbon Market and Forestry,
- undeground water leakage in water distribution
