Wiseair

In 2019, Wiseair was born out of the ambition of 4 engineers from Politecnico di Milano to enable everyone in the world to breathe clean air. We believe that a problem that cannot be measured is a problem that cannot be solved, so we work to enable municipalities, citizens and businesses to measure and know air quality, creating actionable and solution-oriented data and information, and generating awareness. Our solution is called ido. It is a full-stack air quality monitoring platform, ranging from deployment of sensors on the ground and data analysis to data visualization and decision-making support. Dozens and dozens of municipalities across Italy are already using ido to guide their sustainable land development policies. We have implemented citizen science projects in all major Italian cities (Milan, Turin, Rome, Bari). We are working with government environmental agencies to carry out validation campaigns geared toward integrating our solutions and improving our models.

Ido is an innovative service for air quality management with two objectives: support decisions and policiy-making thanks to local data and insights, as well as engage citizens, educating them to increase their awareness concerning air quality and sustainability.

All of this is done thanks to three technological pillars:

1) Our innovative sensors infrastructure. In every territory we collaborate with, we install a network of sensors that monitor air quality 24h a day with an updated measurement every 15 minutes.
2) Air quality models and tools for visualization. Raw data is processed by our air quality models and can be seen live on our free app for citizens and on our dashboard with technical analyses and insights by administrators.
3) Reports and intervention advices. Administrators receive reports always updated with our data scientists' analyses and our practical advices for policies that will improve air quality in their territory, with previsional data about the potential result of the implementation of such interventions.

In every step of the process, as well as during the actual implementation of the interventions, Wiseair actively supports the administrators helping them get the most out of the service.
