BIORISI srl - spirulina fox

The Italian company is an innovative start-up born in January 2019 from an international R&D project focusing on the
production process of spirulina alga for food use.
The core mission of the company is now the applied technological research in order to: optimize the production of highquality spirulina maxima and the collection system; extract proteins from spirulina maxima and in particular from
phycocyanin, a powerful anticancer as certified by numerous scientific publications; use spirulina as a decontaminant of
air (CO2 reduction) and water (decontamination from glyphosates and microplastics). The company, in collaboration with
other research centers, has already developed the technology (TRL 4) to extract, at low cost, 98% pure phycocyanin, a
particular protein contained in abundance in the spirulina maxima. This degree of purity allows the extracted phycocyanin, finally, to be used in the pharmaceutical field, as a very powerful anti-oxidant and antiinflammatory and also in anticancer therapies.
The company, in collaboration with an Italian university and research center, has produced too some scientific
publications that are the result of a research activity that is still ongoing but needs further support.
The company is focused on the development of this research but at the same time produces spirulina in its plant to
transform it into a food supplement, already certified as organic, already duly registered with the Ministry of Health and
already on sale in Italian pharmacies under its own brand name. The production plant is made up of two greenhouses
(each of 10 meters x 50 meters), for a total area of 1,000 square meters of greenhouses, located on a gross surface of
about 1,500 square meters. In the greenhouses there are tanks made with walls and bottom in waterproof plastic cloth.
Each tank can hold 250,000 litres of water. The greenhouses are covered with a special anti-ultraviolet polyvinyl chloride
(PVC) sheet of a thickness of 200 microns. Each pair of greenhouses is equipped with water movement blades to
guarantee the appropriate oxygenation.
During the night, the greenhouses receive light from a LED lighting system in order to continuously feed the
photosynthesis process.
To further develop, upgrade and explore new application of the technology, the start-up is looking for companies,
research institutions, and other industry partners to submit project proposals for HORIZON-MISS-2022-SOIL-01 and
forthcoming Horizon Europe calls.
The company makes its plant or part of it available for experimentation on a production scale, as well as its consolidated
experience, knowledge and expertise in the cultivation of spirulina microalgae. The Italian company is also available to
transfer its know-how

Spirulina is an ancient microalgae already known and used by the Aztecs, to be so old, in billions of years has accumulated many beneficial properties-.
Our spirulina seaweed is a natural food supplement that contains: Plant proteins, Vitamins, omega 3, omega 6, fiber, iron, potassium and magnesium.

SPIRULINA AND HEALTH
Through the contribution of plant proteins, vitamins, fiber, essential fatty acids, and its alkaline properties, Spirulina is an excellent adjuvant in the prevention and treatment of many diseases including:
Hypercholisterolemia, Hypertriglyceridemia, Anemia, Hypertension, Aging, Chronic and induced fatigue, Reduced sexual potency, Infertility, Immunodeficiencies, Tumors.
SPIRULINA AND SPORT
1974 United Nations World Food Conference: spirulina seaweed is named the "Best Food for the Future" (already widely used in the sports context). (already widely used in the sports context).
Spirulina seaweed has in fact become a real food supplement for those who practice sports at a competitive level. During physical exertion, 10 times more oxygen is required than in normal daily activities: in particular, as the heartbeat increases, more red blood cells are involved in the transport of oxygen.
An iron-rich food such as spirulina seaweed is a great help to our organism when it is under stress. In addition, the minerals lost through sweating are quickly supplemented thanks to this food!
Spirulina seaweed is composed of more than 60% protein of very high biological value. Spirulina contains all 8 essential amino acids, which is another reason why it is perfect for athletes. The presence of amino acids ensures the balance of the protein system and improves the absorption of incomplete proteins from grains and legumes. Thus spirulina seaweed, among foods, wins the medal as the best source of vegetable proteins. Meat and fish contain 15-25% protein, eggs 12%, cereals 10% and milk 3%. While animal proteins often also have a fair amount of saturated fats - which should be limited -, vegetable proteins come from foods that are substantially free of saturated fats, so they are more helpful in keeping cholesterol under control.
And if spirulina seaweed is really so precious, it couldn't but be rich in omega-3 and omega-6, the essential fatty acids (i.e. those that the body cannot synthesize on its own and can only take with food) with important anti-inflammatory power, able to act on the immune system, cardiovascular system and lower blood cholesterol levels. Physical activity produces free radicals, which are counteracted by the presence of beta-carotene, ascorbic acid and tocopherol (together they play a synergistic effect) thus preventing damages caused by aging: in fact they favor memory and help concentration.

The content of vitamins is surprising: there are A, D, C, E, K, as well as many vitamins of the B group, including B12 which is practically absent in other foods of vegetable origin. The triad of vitamins ACE gives spirulina seaweed important antioxidant properties while amino acids and vitamin A are important catalysts in the process of building, maintaining and recovering muscle mass. The presence of vitamins and minerals provides the right nutritional intake even to pregnant and lactating women.
The presence, in the alga, of numerous mineral salts contributes to make this food a valuable supplement for all athletes.
Spirulina seaweed contains: calcium (in a quantity 26 times greater than cow's milk), magnesium and potassium (involved in the muscular contraction: their deficiency can lead to cramps, tendon and muscular lesions and sense of fatigue), iron (bioavailable, useful in various forms of anaemia), manganese, sodium, phosphorus, zinc and selenium.
