Dreamfarm

Dreamfarm is an Italian company producing plant-based cheese alternatives through fermentation. Founded in 2021 in Sala Baganza, in the heart of the Parma Food Valley, it is incorporated as a Società Benefit and set out to tackle a challenge the market had so far avoided: creating 100% plant-based products that stand comparison with cheese on merit, not on compromise.

THE PROCESS
At the core of the company is a proprietary fermentation platform built on five selected strains, protected by European Patent No. 4456729, granted in April 2025. It is fermentation — not added flavourings or thickeners — that builds the taste, acidity and structure of the products, following the same principle that governs traditional cheesemaking. The raw materials are almonds and cashews, processed in an IFS- and BRC-certified facility.

THE RANGE
Dreamfarm produces plant-based alternatives to mozzarella, stracciatella, ricotta, ciliegine and spreadable cheeses, in formats designed for both retail and foodservice. Every product carries a Nutri-Score A: free from lactose, cholesterol and animal protein, with a nutritional profile suited to everyday eating rather than occasional indulgence.

THE MARKETS
Present in nine European countries, Dreamfarm is listed with some of the continent's leading retailers: Monoprix in France, Delhaize in Belgium, Albert Heijn and Picnic in the Netherlands, EDEKA in Germany. In Italy it distributes through Marr and Dac. In foodservice it supplies plant-forward chains such as Land&Monkeys, alongside horeca and contract catering operators.

THE TEAM
The company brings together first-tier industrial and category expertise. Sue Garfitt, former CEO of Alpro and one of the people who built the European plant-based market, sits on the board.

THE APPROACH
Società Benefit status is not a label but a commitment written into the company's articles: alongside profit, Dreamfarm pursues common-benefit goals tied to reducing the environmental impact of the food chain. A plant-based cheese alternative requires a fraction of the water, land and emissions needed to produce its dairy equivalent, and offers consumers a choice that asks for no compromise on pleasure.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Dreamfarm is open to new partnerships with distributors, importers and retail chains in European and non-European markets, as well as to private label projects and collaborations in foodservice, travel retail and catering. The company can develop dedicated formats and recipes to meet a partner's specific requirements.

A plant-based alternative to mozzarella, made by fermenting cashews and almonds. It was the product Dreamfarm launched with and remains the benchmark of the range: a format designed to be used exactly as you would use mozzarella, with no need for the consumer to change habits or recipes.

HOW IT IS MADE
Production starts from a cold-processed nut base, inoculated with five selected strains and left to ferment in a curing room. It is fermentation — protected by European Patent No. 4456729 — that develops the acidity, the lactic notes and the structure of the product: no added flavourings, no thickeners building the texture artificially. The same principle as traditional cheesemaking, applied to a plant-based raw material.

THE PRODUCT
The texture is springy and firm, with the moist surface characteristic of fresh mozzarella. It holds its shape when sliced; under heat it melts and stretches without splitting or releasing water. The taste is delicate, with the slight tang you would expect from a fresh dairy product, and without the vegetal aftertaste found in most alternatives on the market.

NUTRITION AND PROFILE
Nutri-Score A. Free from lactose, cholesterol and milk protein; gluten-free, soy-free and coconut oil-free. Suitable for vegan consumers, for those who are lactose intolerant or allergic to milk protein, and for anyone simply looking to cut back on animal products without giving up on taste.

USES
On pizza, where melting is the hardest test to pass. In salads and caprese, alongside tomato and basil. In sandwiches and at the deli counter. Baked, in filled pasta and parmigiana. It is a product made as much for the home kitchen as for foodservice, where consistent yield and easy portioning matter.

FORMATS
Available in retail formats and in dedicated foodservice formats. The wider Dreamfarm range also includes stracciatella, ricotta, ciliegine and spreadables, making it possible to build a complete offer on the chilled shelf or on the menu.

PRODUCTION
Made in Sala Baganza, in the province of Parma, in our own IFS- and BRC-certified facility. Direct control of the entire process — from strain selection through to packing — ensures consistent quality batch after batch, an essential requirement for grocery retail and for contract catering.

MARKETS
The product is distributed in nine European countries, with retailers including Monoprix in France, Delhaize in Belgium, Albert Heijn and Picnic in the Netherlands and EDEKA in Germany, and in Italy through Marr and Dac.
