Castorina 1895 in an artisan atelier founded in 1895 in Florence, where the passion for wood has been handed down through four generations of carvers. In an era where furniture and home decorations are mass produced, we still handcraft each item with dedicated time and care. Our devotion, the love we infurse into our work, and the respect for antique traditional Florentine techniques, make every item we produce both unique and precious. The meticulous attention to detail and decoration we put in our wooden creations has established Castorina1895 as an Italian Artisanal Excellence.
The production of Castorina 1895 ranges from natural wood items such as frames, bases and legs for tables, consoles, coffee tables, to handmade items ready for purchase, embellished with finishes that have always followed the Florentine tradition: gilding, lacquering, and painting are done only by hand, enhancing the sense of softness and intrinsic warmth of wood in the creations. Castorina also produces bespoke objects and furniture and is involved in the restoration of antique furniture.
Marco Castorina, the fourth generation of Castorina carvers, is the actual owner and leads the family business since 2016. He started working in the family workshop as a boy just like his father and grandfather did before him. With time and passion he was able to acquire all the necessary skills to master the ancient techniques that make Castorina 1895's creations unique and precious. A mastery recently recognized by Dolce and Gabbana who chose the creations of Castorina to embellish the huge table settled in Piazza Della Signoria, as part of the events related to The Renaissance and the Rebirth fashion shows in September 2020, and definitively acknowledged by his receiving the award as a Master of Arts and Crafts included in the Golden Book of Italian Artisan Excellence (October 2020).
Castorina's art objects are luxury handmade furniture and decorations. Castorina 1895 produces for a few selected brands bespoke home decor objects and furniture.
