Exxro develops and supplies membrane-based treatment systems using proprietary flat-sheet reverse osmosis and nanofiltration modules. Such systems are engineered to operate under highly demanding wastewater conditions, ensuring reliable performance even in the presence of critical contaminants including PFAS, ammonia, chlorides, boron, surfactants and high-COD loads. This allows treatment of effluents where conventional RO/NF systems typically fail due to severe fouling, degradation of performance and accelerated replacement of components.

Exxro’s proprietary flat-sheet membrane technology—assembled in Italy and Slovenia—represents one of its primary competitive advantages. Compared to spiral-wound modules, flat-sheet elements guarantee higher fouling resistance, easier cleaning, longer operational lifetime, greater operating stability and significantly lower lifecycle costs. In many applications, Exxro modules achieve up to 99% pollutant removal, including complete removal of PFAS, while ensuring rapid maintenance and modular scalability.
The company has delivered over 30 active plants across Italy and Slovenia for both public and private operators. These include municipal landfills, industrial production sites, utilities and specialized waste treatment facilities. Case studies include installations treating from 15,000 to over 50,000 m³/year of leachate, achieving 65–70% water recovery and reducing operating costs by up to 50–60%, mainly through reduced sludge volumes, minimized tanker transport and improved resource reuse.
Exxro offers modular solutions such as insulated “reefer-type” containers and AISI 316L skid units, making installation fast and adaptable to existing infrastructures. Customers can run preliminary pilot tests supported by specialized engineers, enabling performance validation, economic assessment and full-scale design. Plants are equipped with Siemens-based automation for real-time monitoring and optimized operation.
Applications cover landfills, chemical and pharmaceutical production, textile manufacturing, food industry, marine sector, municipal wastewater and reuse initiatives. The company is also active in environmental remediation services and the management and transport of waste generated from treatment processes.
To date, Exxro has treated more than 869,000 m³/year of wastewater and recovered over 600,000 m³/year of clean water, eliminating more than 20,000 truck transports per year and avoiding over one million kg of CO₂ emissions. Flat-Sheet RO/NF Membrane Modules – High Fouling Resistance Technology
