Daniele Orlandi

Founded in 2015, "Daniele Orlandi" is a Como (Italy) based women's fashion design studio which values a harmonious, respectful and all-inclusive approach to clothing design and manufacturing.
Our ethos is to offer practical yet beautifully feminine garments using the highest quality of materials while maintaining fair pricing. A project where the respect for life, an attention to people, processes and materials, the confidence in the synergy between individuals, disciplines and knowledge are not only elements of a vision but are integral parts of any creation.

PRODUCTION: Every garment and accessory comes to life in our Como atelier where craftsmanship and modern techniques reinterpret cuts, construction and volumes. The entire production process, from design to pattern-making to manufacturing, is in our hands.

FABRICS: Fabrics are at core of our philosophy, driven by the passion to discover the most beautiful, interesting and sustainable materials. We have partnered with a selection of exceptional and passionate suppliers (family-run businesses, expert artisans or historic companies) dedicate to the creation of high-quality fabrics and accessories. A wide selection both in terms of provenance (India, Italy, Japan, Belgium, Turkey..) and materials (organic Peace silk, personally sourced and handwoven wools, European linens..) but each share a mutual respect for quality and sustainability.

COLLECTION: Inspired by the rich heritage of lake Como, its romance, charme and breathtaking landscapes, our collection proposes a mixture of casual silhouettes made of beautiful fabrics and refined cuts.
An essence of simplicity, highlighted by touches of romanticism and Oriental influences, where practicality and refinement are not mutually exclusive.

Short, unlined duster jacket in heavy handwoven silk native to West Bengal. The mix of short wild silk threads of the empty cocoons, traditionally spun and woven by hand, give the fabric its unmistakable look.
Designed combining Eastern and Western influences it features straight-cut with draped back, open front and elbow length kimono sleeve.

A perfect layering piece, refined yet versatile: from jeans and t-shirt to more formal looks.

Unlined kimono jacket with removable waist belt and kimono sleeve designed/sized to effortlessly fit most body types. Practical/detachable collar which can independently function as a scarf or if worn without offers an additional cardigan style option. Multi-functional and suitable for all types of occasions.

100% Tyrolean wool
We’ve partnered with a Tyrolean weaver to create one of our most demanding fabric where bred wools are sourced from local shepards on the basis of their natural colour (so that no dye is needed).

Every step takes place in the village of Niederdorf or in close nearby using no chemical auxiliary: after spinning the fabric is handwoven using a wooden loom, felted in pure mountain water, dryed open air and finally ironed.

A true artisanal product where many steps are involved and the production rate is really time consuming but the result is a beautiful fabric with a unique character that has no equals in industrial productions.

The traditional seafaring bag crafted using the durable hemp canvas used for the “Amerigo Vespucci” tall ship: the iconic vessel of the Italian navy, considered one of the most beautiful ships in the world.
With its great strength and space, it’s perfect for beach days or any outing.
Details include: cotton cords, metal hardware, inside pocket and African wax print lining.

100% Hemp

This bag is made from very special high-quality hemp canvas: it is the same supplied for the sails of the "Amerigo Vespucci", the oldest unit in commission in the Italian Navy and considered one of the most beautiful sail ship in the world.

Its spectacular sails are made by sewing strips of this heavyweight and robust cloth which is made with 100% natural fibres sourced in Italy. Due its thickness (between 2 and 4 mm) and the weaving process this fabric has an outstanding strength and durability combined with some water-repellency, necessary features to face the forces of the oceans under full sails.

The fabric is completely processed in Italy by a family company specialising in hemp and linen since the 19th century. A local excellence which is also “Masters of linen” certified.
