KOO VIOLINS

KOO Violins is a Cremona-based project developed by Korean luthier KOO Bonwook and Carla Yacomini.

Carla Yacomini is responsible for marketing, sales, client relations and the international commercial development of KOO Violins. Her work includes brand positioning, communications, commercial proposals, partner outreach and direct support for clients from their first enquiry through to follow-up.

KOO Bonwook began his path in violin making in Seoul in 2014. He later trained in Cremona at the Stradivari School of Violin Making and Academia Cremonensis. His work is centred on sound, proportion, balance, careful material selection and direct dialogue with musicians. From the choice of model and tonewoods to varnish, setup and final acoustic adjustment, every decision is guided by the musician’s needs and the musical purpose of the instrument.

KOO Violins offers violins, violas and cellos through five clearly defined selections. This structure accompanies musicians from their first years of study through advanced training and professional performance, to limited luthier editions and individual commissions.

The Entry Selection is designed for beginners and developing students, with stable instruments ready for study, ensemble work and early performance.

The Essential Selection supports progressing musicians and conservatory preparation, with an open, mature and resonant response.

The Professional Selection is developed for advanced study, teaching, auditions and performance, with projection, immediate response, stable intonation and tonal control across a wide dynamic range.

Entry, Essential and Professional Selection instruments are selected and developed according to KOO Violins standards, with direct technical guidance from the Cremona atelier.

Premium Professional is an extremely limited luthier edition for advanced musicians and concert-stage work. Every instrument is personally conceived, crafted and signed by KOO Bonwook, with its own tonal identity, carefully selected tonewoods and a final setup tailored to the instrument.

The Custom Selection is developed through direct consultation with the luthier for musicians seeking an instrument shaped around their ergonomics, playing style, tonal objectives and aesthetic preferences.

Private appointments, guided trials, Custom consultations and international enquiries are managed directly by Carla Yacomini & the luthier KOO Bonwook, including by video call.

Let’s find the right instrument for you.
