SHORT HISTORY
BIZZI sas, established in 1975 is a manufacturer of Historical Keyboard Instruments: Harpsichords, Fortepianos, Spinets and Stringed Instruments: Violins, Violas, Cellos and is operating in 49 Countries.
We represent the Italian tradition and excellence of high-quality craftsmanship.
Our company is specialized also in restoration of historical musical instruments and musical/scientific studies and research, together with partners such as Museums and Music Academies, including some of the most prestigious European Conservatoires.
In 2008, after many years of rich experiences, we have purchased the historical building of Villa Bossi, which has become the headquarter of all our activities, ranging from instruments making to concert organization, including a recording Studio. In 2019, we have delivered the harpsichord number 1000, a great result considering that our instruments are entirely handmade in Italy.
One of the reasons of this rapid growth certainly lies in the efficiency of our system, which offers high quality, competitive prices, together with very good delivery times.
CONSTRUCTION PRINCIPLES - Italy is a Country with extraordinary traditions in Art and Handicraft. Among this intriguing milieu and in accordance with the typical Italian manufacturing system based on supply chains, we have identified more than 30 artisans in our area and established with them a strong and stable cooperation.
Therefore, from sand casting of bronze to hand carved legs or all various styles of decoration, including studies and research on violin woods and varnish, we have managed to obtain flexibility and quality from people who have been handing down traditional techniques for generations. These working principles, always the same from the time of Michelangelo or Leonardo da Vinci till our days, make possible the attainment of good results through great flexibility, high quality without forgetting the lowest possible costs.
Of course, the very manufacturing process of both Keyboard and Stringed Instruments are carried out at Villa Bossi, a place worthy to visits with its 500 years history, the harpsichords and violin workshops and the beautiful instrument collection.
HARPSICHORDS
In the last few years, the market of historical keyboard instruments has grown considerably and the majority of music schools are not only teaching PIANO but also HARPSICHORD. Our instruments are played by renowned artists and we are proud of the important relationship with several prestigious Conservatories who are sending us their best young musicians to study in our master classes and perform within our concerts organization. As to the different Bizzi models, we can propose instruments for the highest professional performances but also an interesting line of harpsichords for music schools, students and amateurs at a level of price that was not existing in this market before us.
STRINGED INSTRUMENTS
In this field, we have a long tradition that goes back the ‘70s, when Guido Bizzi was asked by the Administration of Milano to create the Milano - Violin Making School, still one of the prestigious initiatives of the city.
Due to these relationships, we had the opportunity to do research work on important original instruments and varnishing formulas. In recent years, we have developed our Violin Workshop at Villa Bossi reaching important results, as recently proved by the good ranking of our Maestro Liutaio at the 2021 Cremona International Competition, 7th with the cello and 9th with the violin, out of 350. In addition, we have contacts with collectors and therefore have access to antique instruments of high-value as well as to more affordable ones.
