Month of Italian Fashion 2026

On 20 October 2026, a press conference was held to officially launch the sixth edition of the “Italian Fashion Month”, a promotional initiative organized by the ITalian Trade Agency in Ljubljana within the framework of the Distribution Channels Fashion Project in Slovenia, in cooperation with the Magistrat International group. The project is supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Slovenia.

The press conference took place at the Emporium store in the BTC shopping centre in Ljubljana, attended by numerous national media representatives, influencers, and fashion industry professionals.

The initiative's partner is once again Magistrat International, Slovenia’s leading multibrand retailer in the premium and upper-mid market segment. The group’s portfolio includes the historic Galerija Emporium in Ljubljana’s city centre, the modern Emporium store at BTC, and the e-commerce platform emporium.si.

The promotional campaign will remain active for one month; the focus of the 2026 edition will be the Autumn/Winter collections of Italian brands, presented as expressions of quality, elegance, and creativity, values that are increasingly appreciated by Slovenian consumers.

The initiative is being carried out both in the partner’s physical stores and through its online channel, supported by a multichannel communication strategy that includes advertising in major national media, radio campaigns, and digital activities across social networks, with the aim of promoting the latest Made in Italy fashion collections.

The programme includes a series of events culminating on 10 November with the highly anticipated Italian Fashion Show, a format that has become a recognized benchmark in the Slovenian fashion scene.

With this sixth edition, Italian Trade Agency aims to consolidate the presence of brands already participating in the initiative while introducing new ones. A total of forty-seven companies are taking part, including three newcomers, offering a selection that ranges from internationally renowned brands to outstanding artisan producers. The previous edition achieved remarkable success, generating a significant increase in sales for the partner.

In addition to media invited by Magistrat International, representatives of local newspapers and television networks that regularly collaborate with the Agency were also present, including RTV Slovenia Capodistria and La Voce del Popolo.

During the conference, moderated by presenter Evgen Ban, the Ambassador of Italy to Slovenia, Giuseppe Cavagna, emphasized that despite current challenges, the Made in Italy fashion sector continues to rest on strong economic and manufacturing foundations. According to data provided by the National Chamber for Italian Fashion, the sector generates a turnover of €93 billion, driven by an exceptionally strong export orientation accounting for 90% of total sales. The industry includes around 81,000 active companies, more than half of them artisan businesses, and directly employs 461,000 people across Italy’s major industrial districts.

The Director of Magistrat International Group, Jožica Brcar, expressed her gratitude to Italian Trade Agency and the Embassy of Italy for their support and longstanding cooperation, which has led to excellent results over the years. During this successful partnership, the group has achieved significant milestones, including an increase in the number of Italian suppliers, which now account for approximately one-third of all suppliers, and the consolidation of the Fashion Show as a flagship Made in Italy event recognized by consumers, partners, and international competitors alike.

The conference also provided an opportunity to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Italian Trade Agency. The milestone was highlighted by the moderator, accompanied by the screening of a commemorative video and the exhibition of six informational panels illustrating the Agency’s history, which attracted considerable interest among attendees.

In 2025, Slovenian imports from Italy in the clothing, footwear and leather goods sectors remained stable at nearly €190 million. Italy confirmed its position as the leading supplier of footwear and leather goods (with combined exports exceeding €80 million), with strong growth in footwear imports (+14%, reaching approximately €58 million) offsetting the decline in leather goods (-19%, to €22 million). Furthermore, Italy remains the second-largest supplier of clothing to Slovenia, after Germany, with exports exceeding €108 million.
