SPOTLIGHT ITALY: BREAKFAST @ TIFF

After a 2 year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Italian Trade Commission made it’s annual contribution to the Toronto International Film Festival by hosting a panel discussion. The panel discussion was moderated by Kim Mackenzie Galvez and featured the head of International and Legal Affairs for the Cinema and Audiovisual Department at the Ministry of Culture, Iole Maria Giannattasio, the President of the Italian Film Commission, Cristina Priarone and Cinecitta’s Advisor for International Relations, Roberto Stabile. The event catered to Canada’s top filmmakers, producers, and media buyers and was book-ended with a light complimentary breakfast and time allotted to networking amongst the crowd and guests speakers. 

Since the event, a handful of meetings have been initiated between producers in Canada and Italy in the efforts of possible collaboration. In fact, 4 out of the 5 of the Italian films featured at TIFF were co-productions which goes to show how Italy continues to maintain a positive reputation as a strategic film partner.
