Italy at the International Hospitality Investment Forum 2024

IHIF 2024

The International Hospitality Investment Forum (IHIF) will be held from 15 to 17 April 2024 at the InterContinental Hotel in Berlin. With a strong attendance of over 2,200 representatives already confirmed, IHIF EMEA 2024 will be one of the most important events in the industry. Participants will include high-level leaders from across the hospitality ecosystem, major investment and consultancy firms.

The importance of the event as the main platform for networking, deal-making and industry insight should be emphasised.

ITA - Italian Trade Agency, present with an Info & Investment Desk at the Italian Hospitality Lounge, stand 90, organized in collaboration with Associazione Italiana Confindustria Alberghi (AICA) and Invitalia, will carry out the activity of foreign investment attraction to Italy, with special focus on the Italian offer in the hospitality sector.

Furthermore, on Tuesday 16th April a seminar 'Creating Investment and Development Opportunities in Italy's Tourism-Fuelled Market' is scheduled to take place at the event at 2.00 p.m., at which, among other speakers, the First Counsellor of the Economic, Trade and Science Office of the Italian Embassy Christian Lungarotti and the director of ICE Berlin, Ferdinando Fiore, will take part as speackers.

2023 was the year of definitive recovery for the tourism sector, with the return of international travellers registering 851 million presences for EUR 84.5 billion in consumption.

In 2023, according to a sector analysis conducted by EY, real estate investments in the hospitality sector reached EUR 1.6 billion, confirming the resilience of the hotel sector.

The four top destinations (Venice, Rome, Milan and Florence) only accounted for 38% of total investments due to the scarcity of properties on the market.

Rome confirmed its position as market leader with 412 million investments (25% of the total), followed by Milan (8%), Florence (3%) and Venice (2%). Secondary cities and regional destinations have seen their appeal grow to account for 16% of total volumes.
