HONG KONG BUSINESS DELEGATION VISITING GEORGIA, OFFERS TO HELP PROMOTE GEORGIAN PRODUCTS IN ASIAN COUNTRIES

A business delegation from Hong-Kong is visiting Georgia to familiarise themselves with the Georgian business environment and offer help to Georgian exporters to promote their products in Asian countries.   "With Hong Kong's unparalleled knowledge of the Chinese market as well as Asian consumer needs and tastes, Hong Kong can help Georgia's exporters promote Georgian products to emerging markets in China and other Asian countries”, read the press-release published by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Edward Yau, emphasised Hong Kong's strengths as a key business matching platform for Georgian enterprises seeking and forging strategic partnerships. Yau said that given Georgia's prime location at the crossroads of Asia and Europe and Hong Kong's edge on various fronts including in having a deep pool of professional talents, Hong Kong and Georgia enjoy a wealth of opportunities to further strengthen connections and achieve synergy under the Belt and Road Initiative.Yau and delegation members met Georgian Economy Minister Giorgi Kobulia where they talked about the planned and ongoing reforms of the country which aim to result the inclusive growth of Georgian economy.     Kobulia highlighted the advantage that Georgia has thanks to the free trade deals with China, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the European Union and other countries. "I hope Hong Kong will become one of our major trade and business partner in the future”, said Kobulia. He  also placed special importance on the free trade deal between Georgia and Hong Kong that was signed back on 28 June 2018 and took effect in February 2019.The Hong Kong delegation showed interest in Georgia’s energy, production, technologies and IT sectors.  (ICE BAKU)
