ARGENTINA: PETRONAS CONFIRMED AN INVESTMENT OF USD 2.3 B IN VACA MUERTA

Anuar Taib, executive vice president of Petronas, the company controlled by the Malaysian government, confirmed in Houston that the company will invest B 2,3 USD over the next 4 years in Vaca Muerta, to develop a major shale oil deposit in La Amarga Chica.The Asian oil company is associated in equal parts with YPF, and at the end of last year announced the start of the development stage of the field. The objective of both companies is to reach by 2022 a production of 60,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. The project contemplates a development that could involve an investment of up to 7,000 million dollars until the completion of the project and reach a production level of 75,000 barrels equivalent.La Amarga Chica became for YPF the third project that the company manages to pass to the stage of massive development, after Loma Campana and El Orejano. From the first well drilled in May 2015, the pilot project of La Amarga Chica went through 3 phases that demanded a joint investment of 550 million USD. Thirty-three wells were completed and a production of 9,800 barrels of oil equivalent per day was achieved. (ICE BUENOS AIRES)
