ARGENTINA: IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS, SHELL WILL INVEST US$ 3 B IN VACA MUERTA

The global CEO of Shell, Ben Van Beurden, confirmed that the company will move to massive development 3 areas in Vaca Muerta with an investment plan that involves an investment of 3 billion dollars in the next 5 years. It will go from a production of 12 thousand barrels per day at present to about 40 thousand in 2021, tripling what it extracts in the Neuquén basin in the term of 2 years.Alfredo Gutiérrez, Governor of Neuquén, indicated that in the 3 areas "304 new unconventional hydrocarbon wells will be drilled" in 38 locations and explained that "from the current 12.000 barrels of oil per day produced, it will go to 40.000 barrels in 2021, while it is expected to reach 70.000 barrels of oil per day by the middle of the next decade. It also includes the construction of a crude processing plant, 100 kilometers of internal roads, 75 kilometers of oil and gas pipelines (to be built by Tenaris), power lines, 3 water reservoirs and a secondary aqueduct, among other developments.The company will double the employment positions in these areas, from 1.000 to 2.000 workers.
