Minister of Trade, Industry and Supply Tareq Hammouri on Tuesday 11th said that Jordanian exports increased by 9.3 per cent during the first quarter of this year, which indicates an improvement in the national economy. Is expected a gradual increase in exports by the end of this year and the coming years even if it varies from one sector to another, but such an improvement indicates that the Jordanian industrial sector is recovering. The minister also listed a number of reasons for the debt crisis in Jordan, which can be mainly attributed to the interruption of the Egyptian gas supply, regional crises, and borders closures. The industrial sector’s challenges are coupled with advantages that increase their competitiveness in international markets. In this regard, the Kingdom’s agreement with the European Union to simplify rules of origin for national exports and its efforts to reopen the Iraqi market through signing exclusive deals give a big support for Jordanian competitiveness.
