On the 29th July 2019, Ghana and Germany signed a grant agreement of €5,026,027 for the construction of a community waste-to-energy project in the Ashanti Region,Ghana. The 400-KW demonstration project will use a hybrid solar PV, biogas and a pyrolysis plant to generate electricity from domestic waste.The project is expected to start on October 1, 2019 and be completed by November 30, 2023. The Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, signed the agreement for Ghana while the German Minister of Education and Research, Ms Anja Karliczek, signed for her country. There are nine research partner institutions involved in the project and they comprise six from Ghana and three from Germany. (ICE ACCRA)
