SURFACE AND CIVIL WORKS PACKAGE RELEASED FOR SYDNEY METRO – WESTERN SYDNEY AIRPO

Sydney Metro has released the surface and civil alignment works package for the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport. Suitable suppliers are invited to register their interest for prequalification. This will be followed by an Expression of Interest and a Request for Tender process for the design and construction works package. The current package includes the above ground and at grade sections of track. This includes 3.7 kilometres of viaduct structures, located primarily on either side of the future Luddenham station and where Patons Lane is today, and 6.7 kilometres of at-grade formation in six sections. The at grade and viaduct will comprise most of the line between the Airport Business Park and Orchard Hills Station. Other works in this package include the M12 rail overbridge, including foundations, bearings, abutments and superstructure, Western Sydney Airport drainage swale overbridge, including interfaces with m12, Elizabeth Drive and Airport access roads, and temporary and permanent access roads. Suitable applicants will be given access to a dedicate website with the invitation for EOI, further information and supporting documents. The closing date for submissions of EOI responses is expected to be December 23, 2020. With completion targeted for when Western Sydney International Airport opens to passengers, the Western Sydney Airport Metro line will connect the greater Sydney transport network to the new airport, via an interchange at St Marys. The transport spine for the Western Parkland City will also enable turn-up-and-go services to future residential and business centres. The next package to be released will be the stations, systems, trains, operations and maintenance contract, which will be procured as a public-private partnership.  (ICE SYDNEY)
