The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC) has awarded the local Contracting & Construction Enterprises (CCE) a contract for employee accommodation at its tourism project on the Red Sea coast.CCE will design and build infrastructure for Coastal Village, which will house 14,000 people who will work for the masterplanned tourism development. The contract’s scope includes earthworks, the development of local infrastructure, and the construction of a network of paths and walkways as well as the structures of utility hub buildings. Also covered by the contract is the construction of potable water, firefighting water, irrigation and sewerage networks.TRSDC plans for the accommodation project to be accessible through sustainable modes of travel instead of regular vehicles. The project’s design is understood to prioritise “walking, cycling and a fleet of electric buggies and service vehicles”.The developer said the accommodation project will start to receive residents by the second quarter of this year. The contract award follows the confirmation of the local Alkifah Contracting in December as engineering, procurement and construction contractor for an additional 40 apartment buildings at Coastal Village.Alkifah's contract covers 40 blocks of single and double occupancy units. The company will use precast concrete panels prepared at a manufacturing facility near the project site, according to TRSDC.  In August 2019, Saudi Amana Contracting, the local subsidiary of the UAE’s Amana Contracting Group, was named construction partner for the development of 10 residential buildings comprising 300 apartments at Coastal Village.
