KAZAKHSTAN-EDB-HOSPITAL-FINANCING EDB plans to arrange a syndicated loan for hospital projects in Kazakhstan

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) plans to sign an agreement to arrange a syndicated facility for the construction of hospitals in Kazakhstan, EDB Deputy CEO Amangeldy Isenov told Interfax-Kazakhstan. "We are planning to sign a mandate letter to arrange financing for hospital projects. It will be a specific project that will outline directions for us to move on. It’s the first mandate agreement for syndicated financing in Kazakhstan with the EDB acting as a lead arranger," Isenov told the agency. The financing will be raised as a syndicated loan. “It’s premature to say who will be participating in a syndicated loan, as the process entails arranging a facility and recruiting a pool of investors. We cannot say just yet who it will be. After being appointed as a lead arranger, we will start looking for potential investors," he said. The EDB will be focused mainly on development institutions, both domestic and international. Isenov didn't specify the loan amount saying that the final figures will depend on the final project documentation. In February this year, the EDB signed a memorandum of cooperation with RenEll Co. Ltd. to finance the construction and operation of hospitals in seven cities: Kokshetau, Aktobe, Atyrau, Aktau, Taraz, Pavlodar, and Karaganda. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is an international financial organization, founded by Russia and Kazakhstan in January 2006 for the purposes of assisting the development of the market economies of its state members, as well as ensuring their stable economic growth and expanding trading operations. The states participating in the bank are Russia and Kazakhstan (founders), as well as Armenia, Tajikistan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan (members). The EDB is headquartered in Almaty, Kazakhstan. (ICE ALMATY)
