Investments in Indonesia grew 16.2 percent to Rp223 trillion in the second quarter of 2021, compared to Rp191.9 trillion in the same quarter last year, according to the Investment Ministry/Investment Coordinating Agency (BKPM).Compared to the previous quarter, investments in the second quarter of 2021 grew slightly, by 1.5 percent.  The Rp223 trillion investment comprised domestic investment worth Rp106.2 trillion and foreign investment valued at Rp116.8 trillion. The foreign investment grew 19.6 percent and domestic investment jumped 47.8 percent, compared to the same period last year. The foreign investment represented 52.4 percent and domestic investment constituted 47.6 percent of the total investment in the second quarter of 2021.Based on the locations of projects, the investment in the second quarter of 2021 spread in West Java, Jakarta, East Java, Banten and Maluku. Meanwhile, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Japan and China are listed as the top five investors in Indonesia in the April-June 2021 period. The investment was mostly realized in the fields of housing, industrial estates, office complexes, base metal industries, metal goods, non-machinery and spare parts, transportation, warehousing and telecommunications, electricity, gas, water and mining.
