Sofia - Sofia Municipal Council has adopted the Plan for Integrated Development of Sofia Municipality. This is a new type of strategic document stipulated by the Regional Development Act, the Rules on its application and the Guidelines endorsed by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works. It covers the 2021-2027 period and is the product of months of work of City Hall's teams, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova said upon presenting the Plan before the municipal councilors on Thursday. The Plan aims to meet the requirements for European funding in the new programme period and unite the city's leadership around the vision of the city's development in the next six years. A list of 70 projects that can be extended is attached to the Plan, Fandakova underscored. The Plan sets down the municipality's medium-term goals and priorities, as well as its relations with other municipalities. It features 30 strategic goals, to be achieved by 14 specific actions, Fandakova said, as well as 104 measures for the various specific actions. Numerous measures, activities and projects have been included in the Plan's implementation programme. The position of the various stakeholders - NGOs, business, citizens, research units, state administration - was a very important factor in outlining those, the Mayor of Sofia said. After the Plan is passed, two authorities for its implementation will be established: a Project Selection Unit and a Selection Committee to judge compliance with the requirements of the Operational Programme Regions in Growth 2021-2027, as well as a Project Management Unit, Fandakova said.
