NEW THERMAL POWER PLANT STARTS TO SUPPLY ELECTRICITY TO UZBEKISTAN’S ENERGY system

on 11 January 2022, at 16:32, the power plant of the Turkish company Aksa Enerji, built in Bukhara district of Bukhara region, began supplying electricity to the Unified Energy System of Uzbekistan.As previously reported, on 31 December 2021, this TPP launched the first unit with a capacity of 270 MW.It is worth noting that the thermal power plant will generate 2.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, covering 80 percent of the region’s consumption.Thanks to the high efficiency of the devices, 260 million cubic meters of natural gas will be saved per year. The saved natural gas will make it possible to generate an additional 900 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.This investment project was implemented on the basis of a public-private partnership in accordance with the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan from 4 March 2021 at the expense of financed funds of Aksa Enerji for US$150 million.
