Aircraft manufacturer Embraer is adding more than 150 jobs at its factory on Florida’s Atlantic coast, company officials said.Florida Today reports that the Brazilian company is expanding its Melbourne facility, which serves as the headquarters for its executive jet operations. The company planned a hiring event for late April to recruit assembly technicians, manufacturing engineers, painters, quality inspectors, and other staff.About 1,000 people currently work at the facility at Melbourne Orlando International Airport, which houses the production of Embraer’s Phenom 100EV and the Phenom 300E business jets and final assembly work for the Brazilian-built Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 mid-size jets.Embraer officials told the paper that the company expects to hire more than 500 people this year due to expanding operations and employee turnover. The company said competition is fierce between the many aerospace companies located on Florida’s “Space Coast.” The Melbourne hiring event would be part of a series of job fairs throughout the state that Darrel Stern, Embraer North America talent and campus programs manager, called a “Florida roadshow.”  (ICE MIAMI)
