Chromium-containing sludge treatment plant to be built in Aktobe region for 50 bln tengeEurasian Resources Group (ERG) plans to build a 50 billion tenge plant to treat stale and fresh chromium-containing sludge in Aktobe region, the company said on Tuesday.The efficiency of extraction of chromium oxide will be increased with obtaining concentrates holding no less than 48.5% and with volumes of up to 700,000 tonnes a year; commissioning is planned for 2023; the investment in the project will exceed 50 billion tenge and 270 permanent jobs will be created.In total, ERG will implement investment projects worth 700 billion tenge in Aktobe region by the end of 2025.In addition to this project the second stage of the mine named after the 10th Anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence (SHDNK-2), melting shop no. 1 upgrade to at the Aktobe ferroalloy plant are in the pipeline.It is noted that SHDNK-2, the launch of which is planned for 2025, will allow increasing chromium ore production up to 7.5 million tonnes a year, accordng to the company.Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) is one of the world's leading diversified mining and smelting groups with fully integrated mining, processing, power generation, logistical, and marketing operations.
