Mozambique will receive yet another major investment by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the coming days, this time for a lucerne farming project to provide fodder for animals.At the request of investors, the Mozambican authorities have already identified the area that will host the planting, in the district of Guijá, in Gaza province.At the moment, a technical team led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADER) is making final arrangements with investors, who have already visited Mozambique.If it comes to fruition, it will be the second lucerne production project in the country. The first was inaugurated last year by President Nyusi in the district of Massingir, also in Gaza, exporting to Saudi Arabia.Lucerne (Medicago sativa) is a nitrogen-fixing legume commonly known as alfalfa.
