BAHRAIN TAKES A MAJOR STEP FORWARD IN ACHIEVING SUSTAINABLE FOOD SECURITY.
Bahrain has taken a major step forward in achieving sustainable food security with the inauguration of a $12 million factory.Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa inaugurated the Bahrain Agricultural Foods Storage and Security’s (Bafco) factory at the Bahrain Business Incubator Centre in Hidd yesterday.The factory constitutes an encouraging and important start towards more investments in the food sector, as well as the business opportunities generated from it, which will be reflected in economic development, Shaikh Khalid said.He stressed the importance of the integrated efforts being made to support achieving sustainable food security through effective partnership with the private sector, to ensure that local markets are supplied with basic needs.Shaikh Khalid noted the interest of the private sector in investments that enhance the country’s development, including the establishment of food factories.He stressed the government’s commitment to implementing policies that enhance levels of food security, diversify and sustain supply chains, upgrade national capabilities in the field of food industries, boost investments and stimulate the private sector to contribute to projects and provide the necessary support.
