Kazakhstan to ship 20,000 of oil to German via Druzhba in 1st half of FebKazakhstan will pump the first batch of 20,000 tonnes of oil through the Druzhba pipeline to Germany in the first half of February, Energy Minister Bolat Akchulakov said.“For now, it is only the first batch of 20,000 tonnes in the first half of February,” Akchulakov said at a Wednesday briefing when asked when the first batch of Kazakh oil will be shipped to Germany vie the Druzhba pipeline.“Earlier we were talking about the end of January [to start pumping the first shipment of oil]. We used to transport our oil through the Transneft system to the Black Sea ports and further to the customers. Druzhba is a different route. We expected the first shipment to be at the end of January but, unfortunately, there have been some technical delays and formalities,” he added. The minister said that Kazakhstan has to resolve all issues relating to oil transportation by pipeline from Kazakhstan to Samara and further through Russia to the receiving terminals owned by Transneft. As Europe plans to reduce its dependence on Russian oil, the European players turned to Kazakhstan for oil supplies. Russia granted Kazakhstan permission to transport oil through the Druzhba pipeline to Germany. KazTransOil JSC (KTO) planned to supply 300,000 tonnes of Kazakh oil to Germany in the 1st quarter of 2023. Akchulakov said earlier that Kazakhstan will export 1.5 million tonnes of oil to Germany in 2023 and may boost exports to 7 million tonnes in the future.KazMunayGas CEO Magzum Mirzagaliyev said that Kazakhstan was considering a trial oil shipment to the Schwedt refinery, which had been owned by Rosneft, but in September 2022 Germany's Federal Network Agency took control of a subsidiary of Russia's oil company Rosneft and its shares in three oil refineries. Rosneft Deutschland accounts for about 12% of German refining capacity and is one of the largest fuel market players. The capacity of the Schwedt refinery is 11.6 million tonnes of oil products per year. Starting from the design stage, the plant has historically been linked with the Druzhba oil pipeline and Russian oil fields. (ICE ALMATY)
