INDO-PACIFIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (IPCC) BUSINESS FORUM TO STRENGTHE
The government and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) have strengthened their trade cooperation through the Indo-Pacific Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IPCC) business forum, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated on Tuesday (March 21). The 2023 IPCC business forum was conducted on March 18 in Nusa Dua, Bali, as part of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF). The forum brought together businesspersons, associations, government officials, and stakeholders from various countries to discuss the Indo-Pacific as an economic growth center. The IPCC explored the prospects and challenges of developing a new framework for regional economic engagement, particularly in the digitalization, supply chain, and renewable energy sectors. Arsjad Rasjid, Chairman of KADIN, stated that some countries are trying to develop plans for Indo-Pacific collaborations as well as bilateral, regional, and multilateral initiatives without the participation of the private sector. He emphasized that the IPEF required concrete economic ties and more consistent substantive development in order to give more practical advantages to countries in the Indo-Pacific region. However, due to IPEF's short operating duration, the private sector is critical to IPEF's long-term viability and influence. (ICE GIACARTA)
