The Lithuanian mineral fertilizer company “Achema” plans to build a 213 megawatt (MW) hydrogen production plant by the fall of 2027.The company’s estimated cost of the project is 344 million euros.It is planned that 30% of the hydrogen required for ammonia production will be obtained in the production plant through electrolysis. Ammonia is the main raw material of nitrogen fertilizers.On the other hand, “Achema” plans to receive energy for hydrogen production from the Pagēgi wind park. The construction of a 40-turbine wind farm with a capacity of 248 MW will start this year. “Achemos group” plans to invest more than 400 million euros in it.In December, “Achema” announced that it plans to invest around two billion euros in 10-15 years to switch to green chemistry in production.
