KAZAKHSTAN-FERTILIZERS-EXPORT-RESTRICTIONS

Exclusive right to export ammonium nitrate and ammophos goes to producersThe Kazakh government has put restrictions on the export of fertilizers, the Cabinet of Ministers said."The Government of Kazakhstan approved a list of fertilizers that could be exported only by producers. The measure is designed to contain the shipping of the subsidized products out of the country and support domestic agricultural producers," according to the statement. The restrictions will apply to ammonium nitrate and amorphous, which are in high demand among domestic farmers. The government subsidizes 50% of their cost to meet the domestic demand in the sowing season. However, the customs authorities report that resellers take advantage of low prices to export fertilizers abroad causing a shortage of fertilizers in the domestic market. The government resolved to "grant the exclusive right to export these types of fertilizers to the producers.""The needs of domestic farmers will be a priority to be met in accordance with the requests filed by regional administrations," the press release says. The Industrial Development Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development will be authorized to issue licenses to exporters.
