China's Xi holds bilateral meetings with Kazakh, Uzbek, Tajik, Turkmen, Kyrgyz leadersChinese President Xi Jinping has held bilateral meetings with the leaders of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan on the sidelines of the China-Central Asia summit in Xian, official Chinese media reported on Thursday.Meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Xi said "China stands ready to undertake efforts and develop bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the two countries' development." He said the agreements reached at previous meetings were being put into practice, and were providing an impetus to the development of bilateral ties.Meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Xi said: "Relations between Beijing and Dushanbe have deep historical roots, a firm political foundation, a rich essence of cooperation, and broad public support."Beijing stands ready "to combine efforts with Tajikistan to comprehensively increase the level of cooperation in various fields," he said.Xi also met with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to discuss bilateral relations.On Wednesday, Xi conducted negotiations with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who arrived in China on his birthday."Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's state visit to China on this special day demonstrates the advanced level of relations between the two countries, and shows yet again that its ties with the PRC are unbreakable," Xi said.China and Kazakhstan agreed to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and support each other in various fields. The two leaders issued a joint statement and announced that they had signed a number of documents on bilateral cooperation in the economic, trade, energy, transport, agriculture, and other sectors.Commenting on the China-Central Asia summit held in Xian, the center of Shaanxi Province, on May 18-19, Xi said the meeting should help cooperation between China and Central Asian countries enter a new era.
