The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, met the EU Ambassador Vincent Piket on Wednesday (24/5) to discuss the preparations for the visit to Brussels by the Governments of Indonesia and Malaysia on 30-31 May. The Joint Mission is a follow-up to the bilateral meeting of the two ministers in February 2023. It aims to voice the concerns of Indonesia and Malaysia to several Commission officials and European Parliament legislators regarding the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Mr. Airlangga stated that the regulation may exclude smallholders from the global supply chain and fails to acknowledge their significance and rights.
