IVORY COAST: GRANTED LICENSES FOR LITHIUM EXPLORATION

Abidjan – The Ivorian government has adopted two decrees allowing the exploration of lithium in the departments of Adzopé, Yakassé-Attobrou and Agboville. Issued for a period of four years, the two exploration permits were obtained by the company African Lithium Mining Resources Côte d'Ivoire.In recent months, authorities have granted exploration licenses for other metals such as nickel, cobalt or rare earths, while a global race is currently underway to find and exploit these resources needed for, among others, electric vehicles or wind turbines .Global demand for lithium has exploded in recent years due to its use in electric vehicle batteries.
