GE Healthcare to start local production of medical devices in KazakhstanPresident of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, met with Rob Walton, the President of GE Healthcare's Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, during his visit to the United States, the press service of the head of state reported."Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was briefed on GE Healthcare's strategy to manufacture ultrasound devices in Kazakhstan, followed by the local production of computed tomographs, angiographs, and mammographs," according to the press service of the Kazakh President."The President of Kazakhstan noted that this initiative meets the national goal to increase the domestic production share of medicines and medical equipment to 50% by 2025," the press service said.Rob Walton also informed Tokayev about GE Healthcare's plan to create a centralized digital archive for medical images in Kazakhstan, which will simplify the management of patients' information and reduce service costs.GE Healthcare is also launching an educational program in collaboration with Astana Medical University, set to begin in October this year.During the meeting, a framework agreement was signed between the Kazakh government and GE Healthcare for the investment project.
