Kazakhstan's grain import ban exempts transit, elevators, poultry farms, and processors - Ministry of AgricultureThe ban on grain imports to Kazakhstan will not affect freight transit, elevators, poultry farms, and grain processors, the Ministry of Agriculture said.The Ministry of Agriculture clarifies that the ban on wheat imports introduced on September 25, 2023, "won't impact wheat brought in by railcars to licensed elevators, grain processors, or poultry farms. Furthermore, the ban does not affect wheat's transit transportation across Kazakhstan."The ministry noted that this measure aligns with the country's international commitments, including the guidelines of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU)."Article 29 of the EAEU Treaty grants member states the authority to impose trade restrictions in cases where they are deemed essential for national security," the Ministry of Agriculture said.The Ministry of Agriculture said that the projected gross grain harvest, including carryover stocks, will adequately meet the nation's domestic demands.
